Lehigh Acres is one of the fastest growing communities in the State of Florida as well as the United States. Located in eastern Lee County, there is a total area of 94.2 square miles. Much of the area was developed by a Chicago businessman that purchased 18,000 acres to invest in cattle, starting Lucky Lee Ranch. After Lucky Lee Ranch was sold in 1972, the boundaries of Lehigh Acres expanded to stretch over 61,000 acres. The pasture land where cattle once roamed has since been divided mostly into 0.25-acre 0.5-acre lots for housing.
